SURGICAL
BREAST SURGERY
Dr Senthil Supramaniam provides a comprehensive range of cosmetic breast surgical procedures designed to alter the size, shape, and contours of one's breasts.
Our breast surgical options include Breast Augmentation Mammaplasty, Mastopexy (breast lift), Removal & Replacement, Reduction Mammaplasty, and Explant Surgery.
BREAST AUGMENTATION MAMMAPLASTY
Breast augmentation mammaplasty surgery, commonly referred to as a breast augmentation or a "boob job," is a cosmetic surgical procedure aimed at increasing or altering the size, shape, or fullness of the breasts. This is achieved by inserting breast implants into a pocket created either behind the breast tissue or beneath the chest wall muscle.
Breast augmentation can change breast size, address concerns around symmetry, and restore volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy, resulting in a fuller breast contour.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic at our accredited facility. Dr. Senthil Supramaniam will make an incision in a discreet location, create a pocket for the implant, and then place the implant. The incision is closed with sutures, which will be removed at your post-operative appointment.

Different types of Breast Implants:
Saline Implants: These are filled with sterile saltwater. They can be filled with varying amounts of saline, which can affect the shape, firmness, and feel of the breast. If the implant shell leaks, a saline implant will collapse and the saline will be absorbed and naturally expelled by the body.Silicone Implants: These are filled with silicone gel. The gel feels more like natural breast tissue. If the implant leaks, the gel may remain within the implant shell, or may escape into the breast implant pocket. A leaking silicone implant may or may not collapse.
Procedure:
The surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. Dr Senthil Supramaniam makes an incision, often in the crease under the breast, around the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), or in the armpit. The breast implant is then inserted either directly behind the breast tissue or underneath the chest wall muscle. The incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesive, or surgical tape.Recovery:
Recovery time varies among individuals but generally involves some discomfort, swelling, and bruising for a few weeks. Most patients can return to normal activities within a few weeks, but strenuous activities should be avoided for several weeks or until you have approval from Dr Senthil Supramaniam.Risks and Considerations:
Like any surgical procedure, breast augmentation carries risks, including:Capsular contracture (scar tissue around the implant)
Implant rupture or leakage
Changes in breast or nipple sensation
Pain or discomfort
Infection
Changes in breast shape and size over time
Unsatisfactory results
Necrosis
It's essential to consult with Dr Senthil Supramaniam to discuss the risks, benefits, and potential outcomes of breast augmentation surgery to determine if it's the right option for you.
A mastopexy, commonly referred to as a breast lift, is a surgical procedure designed to lift and reshape sagging breasts. This procedure can also reduce the size of the areola—the darker skin surrounding the nipple. Unlike breast augmentation, which increases breast size using implants, a breast lift focuses solely on lifting and tightening the existing breast tissue.
A mastopexy is designed to alter breast contour, breast firmness, and alter the overall appearance of the breasts.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic at our accredited facility. Dr. Senthil Supramaniam will make incisions to remove excess skin, lift and reshape the breast tissue, and reposition the nipple and areola. The incisions are closed with sutures, which will be removed at your post-operative appointment.
-
Procedure:
During a breast lift procedure, excess skin is removed, and the surrounding tissue is tightened to reshape and support the new breast contour. The nipple and areola may also be repositioned to a new heigt. The incisions for a breast lift can vary based on the specific surgical technique used and the extent of the lift needed. Common incision patterns include:Around the areola (periareolar)
Around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease (lollipop or vertical mastopexy)
Around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and along the breast crease (anchor or inverted-T mastopexy)
Candidates:
Ideal candidates for a breast lift are women who may:Have sagging or drooping breasts due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations.
Have nipples that point downward or fall below the breast crease.
Have stretched skin and enlarged areolas.
Recovery:
Recovery time can vary, but most patients can return to normal activities within a few weeks, although strenuous activities should be avoided for several weeks and until you have approval from surgeon or doctor. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are common but can be managed with medication and proper post-operative care.Risks and Considerations:
Like all surgical procedures, a breast lift carries some risks, including:Scarring
Changes in breast or nipple sensation
Unevenly positioned nipples
Difficulty breastfeeding
Partial or total loss of nipple and areola
Need for revision surgery
Unsatisfactory results
It's important to consult with Dr Senthil Supramaniam to discuss the risks, benefits, and potential outcomes of a breast lift to determine if it's the right option for you.
MASTOPEXY
(BREAST LIFT)
BREAST AUGMENTATION MAMMAPLASTY WITH MASTOPEXY
A breast augmentation with mastopexy, often referred to as an augmentation-mastopexy or a breast lift with implants, is a combination surgical procedure that involves both breast augmentation (placement of breast implants) and mastopexy (breast lift). This combined procedure is designed to increase the size, shape, and position of the breasts in a single operation.
This procedure is designed to increase breast volume along with lifting excess tissues.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic at our accredited facility. Dr. Senthil Supramaniam will insert breast implants and perform a breast lift in one operation. The incisions are closed with sutures, which will be removed at your post-operative appointment.
-
Procedure:
Breast Augmentation: The procedure begins with the placement of breast implants to increase the size and fullness of the breasts. Dr Senthil Supramanaim will make an incision, insert the chosen breast implants (saline, or silicone implants), and position them either behind the breast tissue or beneath the chest muscle.Mastopexy (Breast Lift): After the breast implants are placed, the surgeon will lift and reshape the breast tissue. Excess skin may be removed, and the nipple and areola may be repositioned to a higher location
Candidates:
Women who may benefit from a breast augmentation with mastopexy may:Desire both increased breast volume and breast shape.
Have sagging or drooping breasts due to factors such as ageing, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations.
Have stretched skin, enlarged areolas, or nipples that point downward or fall below the breast crease.
Recovery:
Recovery time can vary depending on the extent of the procedure and individual healing rates. Most patients can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort following surgery. It is essential to follow post-operative instructions provided by the surgeon, which may include wearing a supportive surgical bra, avoiding strenuous activities, and attending follow-up appointments to monitor healing and assess the results.Risks and Considerations:
As with any surgical procedure, there are risks associated with a breast augmentation with mastopexy, including:Scarring
Changes in breast or nipple sensation
Unevenly positioned nipples
Difficulty breastfeeding
Implant-related complications (e.g., rupture, capsular contracture)
Need for revision surgery
Necrosis
Unsatisfactory results
It is important to consult with Dr Senthil Supramanaim to discuss the risks, benefits, and potential outcomes of a breast augmentation with mastopexy to determine if it is the right option for your individual needs and goals.
A breast reduction mammaplasty, commonly referred to as breast reduction surgery, is a surgical procedure designed to reduce the size and weight of the breasts by removing excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin. This procedure aims to achieve a breast size that may be more proportionate to the body and alleviate physical discomfort associated with overly large breasts.
Breast reduction may help relieve back, neck, and shoulder pain, improve posture, and allow for a greater range of physical activities.
The procedure is performed under general anaesthetic at our accredited facility. Dr. Senthil Supramaniam will make incisions to remove excess tissue and reshape the breasts. The incisions are closed with sutures, which will be removed at your post-operative appointment.
-
Procedure:
During a breast reduction surgery:Incision: Dr Senthil Supramanaim will make incisions on the breasts, which can vary depending on the specific surgical technique used and the extent of the reduction needed. Common incision patterns include:
Anchor or Inverted-T: Around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease, and along the breast crease.
Lollipop or Vertical: Around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease.
Donut or Periareolar: Around the edge of the areola.
Tissue Removal: Excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin are removed to reduce the size and reshape the breasts.
Repositioning: The nipple and areola are repositioned to a higher location. In some cases, the areola may be reduced in size to match the new breast proportions.
Closing the Incisions: The incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesive, or surgical tape, and dressings or bandages are applied.
Candidates:
Women who may benefit from breast reduction surgery typically:Experience physical symptoms such as back, neck, or shoulder pain due to the weight of their breasts.
Have skin irritation or rashes beneath the breast crease.
Have one breast significantly larger than the other (asymmetry).

BREAST REDUCTION MAMMAPLASTY
AREOLA REDUCTION
An areola reduction, also known as areola reduction surgery or nipple-areola complex reduction, is a surgical procedure aimed at reducing the size and diameter of the areola—the pigmented skin surrounding the nipple. This procedure can be performed in conjunction with other breast surgeries, such as breast augmentation, breast lift, or breast reduction.
The procedure is performed under local or general anaesthetic at our accredited facility. Dr. Senthil Supramaniam will make an incision around the areola, remove excess tissue, and reshape the areola. The incision is closed with sutures, which will be removed at your post-operative appointment.
-
Procedure:
During an areola reduction surgery:Incision: Dr Senthil Supramaniam will make a circular incision around the outer edge of the areola to remove the excess tissue.
Tissue Removal: The excess pigmented skin and underlying tissue are carefully removed to reduce the size and diameter of the areola.
Closing the Incision: The incision is closed with sutures, which may be placed around the edge of the reduced areola or within the natural transition zone between the areola and the surrounding skin to minimise scarring.
Candidates:
Ideal candidates for areola reduction surgery may:Have disproportionately large or asymmetrical areolas that they wish to reduce in size.
Are undergoing other breast surgeries and desire a more proportionate nipple-areola complex.
Recovery:
Recovery from areola reduction surgery is relatively quick for most patients, but individual experiences may vary:Mild swelling, bruising, and discomfort may be experienced for a few days.
A special dressing or bandage may be applied to protect the incision site and support the healing process.
Strenuous activities and lifting heavy objects should be avoided for several weeks to allow proper healing.
Risks and Considerations:

Closing the Incisions: The incisions are closed with sutures, and dressings or bandages are applied to support the healing process.
Types of Gynecomastia Surgery:
Liposuction: This technique involves the use of a thin tube (cannula) and suction device to remove excess fat from the breasts.
Excision: This technique is used to remove excess glandular tissue and skin from the breasts and may be necessary for more severe cases of gynecomastia or when skin elasticity is poor.
Combination Approach: A combination of liposuction and excision may be used to achieve optimal results, especially for patients with a combination of excess fat and glandular tissue.
Candidates:
Ideal candidates for gynecomastia surgery may:Have persistent and bothersome breast enlargement that does not respond to diet and exercise.
Are in good overall health with stable weight.
Have realistic expectations about the outcomes of the surgery.
